“I have a special pride in this club,” Mr. Miura says. “That’s because it’s so easy to hit.” A small blade? Easy to hit? In Mr. Miura’s innovative mind, it makes sense. He doesn’t buy in to the myth that small, blade-like heads must be hard to hit. Instead, he encourages golfers to try this pleasing design. The smaller size — 15 percent smaller overall — makes the clubhead easier to square up at impact. But Mr. Miura was careful to make the face dense and substantial, to deliver a robust impact and an aggressive ball flight.

A sole grind, including subtle heel and toe relief, enhance the playability of this iron and ensure the best path for the club head thru the turf.  “I’m always looking for new ways to help golfers hit the ball more easily,” Mr. Miura says. “With this design, you really just have to put your swing on it” — and here he smiles — “In a way, we’ve done the thinking for you, so you can just play and enjoy.”

The Story

1957

The Miura story is one of family, passion, and precision. It’s one focused on the power of touch and a belief in meticulous attention to detail. It’s one grounded by an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of perfection.

It begins in Himeiji, Japan, with the art and discipline of samurai and ends with the finest hand-crafted golf clubs known to man. Our founder, Katsuhiro Miura, set out to make something elegant and refined, to create something beautiful, with the highest degree of integrity, something that isn’t done in the golf industry.

His patience and unique forging process ensures the grain of the steel is fine and uniformed, leading to a feel unlike anything else. The Miura feel. Every club is hand-crafted, one-by-one, and touched by Miura-San or one of his two sons, Shinei and Yoshitaka.

Pursuit of Perfection

Miura has been making the world’s finest forged golf clubs since 1957. Designed and constructed by master craftsman Katsuhiro Miura, each club is individually made using Miura’s patented forging process. To this day, Miura-san continues to work in the factory with his sons, Shinei and Yoshitaka, who proudly carry on the Miura legacy.

Principles of Design

In the pursuit to create the perfect iron, Miura-san recognized it was necessary to set a brand new standard of design. Using his quest for perfection as a tool for reinvention, Miura-san implemented distinct principles that after 40 years, still lead the design process today.
