WHAT IS A PUTTER FITTING?
This is a frequently asked question when we advise customers that they should be fit for their next putter.
The vast majority of amateur golfers coming into our studio have never experienced a putter fitting. Yet most have been fit for their Drivers and Irons.
So why do we neglect the most important club in the bag?
And what happens in a putter fitting?
Capto Putting Technology
At ROC golf we use Capto Putting technology during our fittings.
Capto is a hi-tech and lightweight sensor that uses cutting edge technology to provide accurate, detailed and reliable data on the putting stroke. It uses advanced software to display the data intuitively and in real time.
This technology gives us an insight into your putting stroke and reveals your stroke tendencies with your current putter.
The Fitting Process
The factors we consider in a custom fitting are:
- Head Shape
- Hosel Style / Toe Hang
- Length Of Putter
- Loft Required (Can be adjusted in house)
- Lie Can be adjusted in house)
- Grip Type
- Swing Weight
The aim of a putter fitting is to tighten the numbers and produce a better, more consistent putting stroke.
Decreasing the variables is going to increase your confidence on the greens and ultimately you will hole more putts.
The chances of the putter that you picked up off the shelf in a big box store working correctly for you is extremely slim.
So before you invest in your next putter make sure you go through a thorough fitting process.
Just a quick note to let you know that the putter Chris fit me for is an absolute magic wand. I'm easily a couple of shots a round better than before I got it, and to think that I never would have picked that setup from a rack
Who knew there was so much science behind putting. Chris explained all the different aspects involved in making a putt with ease and guided me through the fitting going through all the available options to find the best combination for my putting stroke. Very happy with the experience and will be back for other clubs in the future
